And so, to Aiden Bowness, who wanted a trim to neaten up his hair ahead of a family party but claims he was left looking like Lloyd Christmas from Dumb and Dumber. Yeah, not an ideal look, that. Aiden's usual barbers was closed, so he popped into Brazuca Gentry Grooming, in Cumbria, armed with a photo of what he was hoping to get.
But Flamecia Santiago, who owns the salon, absolutely denies that any of her staff would have left Aiden looking like this and says he must have cut it himself after leaving or gone elsewhere and had it hacked there. She said: "It was not like that when he left. Seventeen-year-old Aiden says he was left so embarrassed by his bowl-cut that he had to wear a hat until he could go and get it sorted. He said: "It looks like someone has used a bowl on it. It's worse than Jim Carrey in Dumb and Dumber.
She was so annoyed. He said he went to the barber he normally uses the next day and paid a fiver to get it sorted, however, he now says it's a lot shorter than he wanted. Most of his Miramar clientele, accordingly, are local, drawing from Santa Monica as well as up the coast in Pacific Palisades and Malibu. To be a barber now is hip; like the bartender profession, barbers now are seen as tastemakers in some corners of young, artistic neighborhoods.
But I like it more old school. I want to cater to everybody, not just a certain type. This is apparent as our interview ends, and the haircut continues. Questions turn into conversation — again, like a bartender, a good barber comes across as an inquisitive friend.
